I took this photo last night when I was coming home from Pasadena. I had an eerie feeling walking to the door. The only light source was that little lamp on the right. Since the wall was closer to me than the door, the door was all black. I told my family about this and they feel the same way as well.I would light this on stage using a down light stage left at full and a diagonal light at down stage left at 25%. Both Leko brush strokes. The color would be a blue based white. I feel that it will create an eerie environment.
Great image and commentary! It's funny, you think of "home" as being warmly lot and welcoming but that is definitely not the case with this image! There is a very harsh and cold quality to that single lamp and with the door being so far set, the fact that it's looming in darkness is definitely eerie! Love the way the down light angle captures the little bumps and grainy unevenness of the wall texture though! Would look great on a set!
