Week #4 Clouds and Buildings

TA 434

"Clouds and Buildings"

Carla Moreno

I took this picture after I went to the MOCA Pacific Design Center museum.
I was captivated by the architecture and the very well mid afternoon sunlight. The natural well-lit sunlight also gave this strong energy of colors. VIBRANT AND ALIVE are ways to describe the feeling I got when I took this picture. I really liked this picture because it was during the afternoon and the sun was well-lit and I noticed that the light was reflecting the buildings. The building were primary colors and they were extremely vibrant.
The sunlight is also able to convey the nice bright day with the main primary colors Blue, Red and Green. The Green is very colorful too. The lighting should be coming from up, so the light direction would be coming from up the sky. The par can would be a light source. And two Fresnel lights coming from the side would work to light the reflecting on the buildings. The green is also clearly vibrant on the grass at the bottom of the building.
And also the use of the red and green gel to the light the focus all over the building. For the par can and to create the sun light I would use pink gel. The gels would for green #89 Moss Green, for Red= #41 Salmon, Blue #46 Parry Sky Blue, Sunlight=  #02 Bastard Amber. I would create a full rage of colors to describe and re-create the architecture that being reflected.

  1. GREAT image Carla! Fantastic light quality in this photo! So much to talk about! Love all the primary colors of the buildings and how bright they are in the afternoon sunlight! Stunning reflections of the clouds and blue sky in the glass panels on the buildings too! Really like the clear directionality of the sun too (note the direction of the shadows on the pillars underneath the red building...) Fabulous!
