Week 10 - Edward Rosales
I have friends who live in Van Nuys, and as much as I love to visit them and see them, the trek from Whittier to there is a bit of a pain. There is a bright side however, and this is just one picture to highlight the beautiful imagery that I get when I am driving either there, or back home. Almost everyone posts a picture of a sunset for the reasons of its sentimental and romantic nature that sunsets are attributed to. This does not speak romance to me however. What I get from this photo is relief. It is the feeling of getting home, and taking off your shoes, and laying in bed after a long day. It is the culmination of hard work finally being finished, or finally paying off, and the feeling of completion. Maybe it is the complimentary colors of the far off sunset in its bright burning yellow-orange, to its more soft colored orange-red transitioning into a lavender-blue. Maybe it is the contrast when it comes to warm and cool colors. Or perhaps it is the clouds and how they remind me of a steam engine train, and the things that are attributed with trains, such as traveling. The sun is the major source of light, but you can see a far off emergence of light in the form of a street light, and a neon sign. Even some headlights poke through very scarcely.

I like this. I think if I would light it the angles and the focus were things I would keep in mind , like we talked in class. Great picture. Makes me want to go to the beach. Great job, Edward!
ReplyDeleteDang! This is a beautiful image! Great lighting from that gorgeous sunset and the layering of light through the cool clouds...really nice commentary!
