Week 8: festive and happy

I took this picture during Long Beach Gay Pride festival . These palm trees really caught my eye , so I just had to take it . It made me feel festive, happy, and bright . I was getting really tired by the time I saw the palm trees , I was exhausted . But when I walked this direction I felt light and in a better mood . I absolutely loved how the sky was so dark in the background , you can't even see stars so it was a bery solid black in the background , then the lights of the palm trees to me , overpowered the lighting of the buildings in the background. If I were to light this on stage , I would use shin lights in color r360 just cause it's very natural to the eye , for some reason I can really picture the shins doing a good part to this lighting just cause the focus isn't specifically on center & I wouldn't want a even wash on the floor with any of the fresnels. Then in the perfect world, I would light multiple down light lekos in colors such as r56, r39,r23, and r89. I'm not sure how to represent the gradient affect , I was thinking if these lights were lit , I'd have different lights fade in and out at full in a time of 15, just to emphasize the color and intensity getting stronger or faint as they go on and off .

  1. So neat! Love this image!! such festivity and energy and PURPOSE behind the lighting of the trees! They're really using light to help tell the story and give off the emotions of the pride festival! Love the city lights in the distance too, helping to remind us of the city and all of the people we're trying to bring together! love it!
